GreenM3 turned off Advertising

I have had a variety of people request to place ads on this site, taking no one up on their offer.  I choose early on to embed Google ads to see how it worked, how much money would come in, and to see what ads would show up.

I don’t write on this blog to make money, so I decided to turn off Google banner ads and eliminate the ad placement.

There is a gaping hole where the banner ads were.  That is not a bug.  Ad banners are gone.  and now I can say I make $0 money from this blog.

The more you know the less you can say

I find more and more there is less I can say about data centers in a blog post.  Why?  Because I am finding so many times what is promoted as new is old and has been said before or what is new is not that interesting.

Do you find that some of the people who say the most know the least?

Something to ponder.

“The more you know the less you can say” is followed by what type of people?

Been super busy, have a large queue of things want to write, but short on time

Tomorrow is DatacenterDynamics Seattle where I’ll be presenting.  Have been researching a bunch of cool ideas, but haven’t had the time to write.  Next week I’ll be going to Intel Developer Forum to see the data center presentations.

Sorry for not posting, but hope to find some time to soon.

Thanks for reading.

Do you want eyes or hearts of followers, or are you in a dialog with their minds

Some people think social media is all about the # of followers you have.  I know some people who will ask how many twitter followers do you have.  I just finished Austin Kleon’s book Show Your Work and one chapter focus on the issue of followers.

“What you want is to follow and be followed by human beings who care about issues you care about. This thing we make together. This thing is about hearts and minds, not eyeballs.” —Jeffrey Zeldman

Stop worrying about how many people follow you online and start worrying about the quality of people who follow you. Don’t waste your time reading articles about how to get more followers. Don’t waste time following people online just because you think it’ll get you somewhere. Don’t talk to people you don’t want to talk to, and don’t talk about stuff you don’t want to talk about.

Kleon, Austin (2014-03-06). Show Your Work!: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered (Kindle Locations 543-548). Workman Publishing Company. Kindle Edition.

I don’t know about you but I don’t want someone’s heart.  I am interested in their mind and what they think.  I want minds, not eyeballs.  Now the problem with this is the media industry has convinced you that your heart is the center of emotions and passion.  The heart is the center of your blood circulatory system.  Last I checked the scientific community has not found any brain cells in your heart or blood.

I hope my readers think and question and don’t just follow what their heart tells them to do. :-)

Taking A Break from Blogging, Back June 30, 2014

My computer screen died and it is in for repair.  I could switch over to another computer to write or I could take a break.  Had a meeting with me, myself, and I and we all agreed taking a break is a good idea.

I’ll hopefully be back blogging on Monday June 30, 2014.  My computer should be returned by June 28, 2014 and I may have to re image the system.

Thanks for following this blog.
